It sounds like very challenging parenting to help your son grow up, Ionesco. The things you would do instinctively for your daughters you would have to rethink for him. In the interview I watched with the autistic mother and son recently on CNN, the mother was describing the way she would not respond to him when he was little until he could express his needs in phrases instead of just single words. She was very consistent, and he did learn better expression. And now as a teenager, when he is bullied or insulted or doesn't fare well in a social situation, instead of being able to say what happened and how he feels, he will come home and just sleep for hours to work through it somehow.
