I think the prohibition on pot will go the way of alcohol. Everyone smokes pot. It really ought not to be criminal. And as far as sloth, I have to ROFL- since so many engineers, and type A hollywood guys smoke it. Some slothful people may smoke it, but there are a lot of type A people who (imo) really NEED to smoke it. Lots of people on SI could really benefit from smoking it- imo.
So I'm 100% for decriminalization- and I'd much rather see people lighting up pot, than drinking. Drinking seems to make people aggressive, and I've never seen to loaded guys fight (I'm sure they've done that somewhere, some time, but I've never seen it).
I can't stand what drinking does to people, but I'd defend that from criminalization also, just because criminalizing something a lot of people use is just stupid.
And I say this as a person pot doesn't work on. I just don't have the receptors for it. I spent 2 years of highschool smoking a lot of good dope, and watching other people get mellow and stoned. At 16 I finally gave up the quest. Drugs make life bearable for a lot of people who are not wired as optimally as they could be. I believe in the positive power of drugs- and, imo, the older more natural drugs work a lot better, with fewer side effects, than the new "miracles" of big pharma (and are way cheaper too.) |
