David: Nothing yet, I posted a message on the user's group bulletin board, but nobody has responded. I'll try emailing Avid directly (Avid.com).

I could be wrong, but I have a feeling that if they are moving into MPEG, it may be for their consumer product Avid Cinema (http://www.avidcinema.com/) which they are marketing both with Apple machines and as a standalone via distributors like MacWarehouse.

The higher end Media Composer (Mac Power PC only) is still running on Motion JPEG as is the MCExpress (Windows and Mac). I checked a preview page that was announced for the next upgrade (codenamed Jaguar) and there was no mention of MPEG. However, they might be considering it for future releases. There has also been some discussion of porting the Media Composer to Windows NT, but Avid has resopnded by saying it is not abandoning the Mac platform.

I hope some of this helps. I keep digging.

BTW, you really contribute a lot to this thread. Thanks!

And what does EOM stand for?

Regards,

Tony
