I absolutely think choice is involved, now hear me carefully here, in some cases.

My neighbors, yes they were friends, in my house often, at the pool, sharing drinks, etc, decided to split. Oddly enough the one with children already, she was married once, went back to men. The other is still undecided. They CHOSE to live this way. Some do choose.
