Mark: Volume has been rising in TTRIF for the past 2 months or so, but on declining prices--which is not so good. At least this week price has been rising also! If this is short covering, its not having much of an effect on price, so dont think this is a major source of this high vol. yet. Anyway, the stock was still on the restricted list as of yesterday.

Your broker must have a sufficient amt. of a given stock in inventory or in customers margin accounts before he can let you short it. TTRIF not being on your brokers list of available stocks to short could either reflect its restricted status or that he doesnt have enough to be able to lend it to one to sell short.

Last week I wanted to short 1000 sh of FEET through a major full service brokerage house and they would only let me short 500 as they didnt have enough on hand. Dont know what margin of safety they maintain-- 2 to 1 or 3 to 1 or higher, but they dont want to have to force you to cover if someone wants to sell the stock you borrowed to sell short and they no longer have it in inventory. Ive heard of horror stories of investors who have taken huge losses in shorts simply because of being forced to cover at a bad time.
