How construction materials are implemented...

Hello PLNI board. As an Architect, I feel I have a unique perspective of the Construction Industry. This is where I feel Plasticon may be headed:

Plasticon's main products are spacers and supports for re-bar. Traditionally, these products are chosen by Concrete contractors. (Architects and Engineers USUALLY do not specify materials related to construction METHODS). With the push for "Green" Buildings this is changing. Now most Government projects require a percentage of Post Consumer Waste Products in their buildings. Architects also see this as necessary but it is difficult to economically meet these requirements. The Plasticon products are an effective way to reach this goal. I expect to see more Architects begin to SPECIFY these products thereby making it a "requirement" (Not a Contractors option). In the interview the point was made that the EPA wanted the product on their list, this is VERY SIGNIFICANT as many specifiers go to these lists for products.

The traditional way that Concrete Contractors pick materials has also been covered by Plasticon. Again in the interview it was mentioned that they have signed on with a distributorship. This Distributorship tied to Georgia Pacific makes the Plasticon product Regionally available. The Plasticon product is not the only one out there but with the Distributorship it gives it a leg up because the fact is most Concrete Contractors would prefer to go to a nearby supplier than to order their materials. Again this also is HUGE news for Plasticon!!
So in review Plasticon now has a double whammy to get their products into the hands of the Contractor:
1). It will be specified by the Architect.
2). It will be readily available in cases where it is not specified.
