Hi Jay -
>>> be at the tender mercies of Wal-Mart, IKEA, Macy's, and the purchasing departments of Toyota, Hyundai, and Sony ?>>
... not likely, as all of the above are simply (and very simply) warehouses, telephones, computers, and folks hungry for jobs of minimal value-add.<<<<
Am I missing something, or don't the above companies control the marketing channels, and can buy form India, Indonesia, Mexico, Brazil, etc. Also, they can play on firm in China against another.

IKEA has big stores all over the world, and a reputation for design.
Toyota has multiple sources for many items, and the ability to provide extensive technical assistance in prodcution, quality control, and purchasing. So they can get a factory going in almost any part of the world.
Am I missing something, or don't most of the factories need these retailers and automakers ? |
