In the interest of not always appearing to be completely uncritical of Apple, I thought I'd mention that I'm having a problem with Tiger. I had understood that one of Tiger's attributes was supposed to be improved compatibility with Windows networking. Sadly, I tried last night to connect to my Windows machine from my G5. This is something that has always worked perfectly for me. Now, I can't get it to work.

A brief search of my usual support forums and newsgroups revealed that a lot of people are having the same problem. I also discovered that Apple has yet to acknowledge the problem, and that there is no known workaround or fix at this time.

While I do expect a new OS to have some bugs, and I do expect some third-party applications to have problems until updates are developed, this is not OK. I find it difficult to understand how these SMB (Server Message Block - Windows networking protocol) problems were not discovered and ironed out during the beta testing phase.

It's critical for Apple to be able to demonstrate seamless integration with the Windows world if they ever want to be taken seriously in business networking environments.
