Looks like Dupont is claiming to have the first processless plate. See press release for firsts at Print 97.

dupont.com

"DuPont ZP(TM) Zero-Processing Thermal Plate
Heading the lineup of industry firsts is the DuPont ZP(TM) zero-processing thermally imaged plate (previewed at Imprinta as Silverlith SDT). DuPont ZP(TM) is designed for use in thermal platesetters and since it is processing-free, it can to go directly to press after imaging. No pre- or post-exposure baking are required.
DuPont ZP(TM) is CURRENTLY APPROVED for use on internal-drum platesetters, such as the Gerber Crescent 42T(TM), using YAG thermal lasers. It will be commercially available in North America in the fourth quarter of 1997.

Agfa which is purchasing duponts plate business will have a market share of almost 50% of the plate market-almost 50 times Pressteks sales. I am sure the longs will tell us printers can't wait to leave Agfa/Dupont for PRst.
