I have a soft spot in my heart for intelligent design, always have. In what way, and why? There is one positive use for ID if the adherents so turned their attention. It could endeavor to provide theoretical bounds for what is possible using evolutionary computer algorithms. There are IEEE journals that would love to publish such theories, if they in fact could provide any insight at all.
