If the economy grows over the next 50 years at the same average rate it grew over the last 50 years... then there is no SS funding gap.

On the other-hand, Medicare/Medicaid is in a funding crisis right NOW, and it's only going to get worse when the drug benefits kick in next year --- a far larger fiscal problem then SS is projected to maybe be (if our growth rate SLOWS DOWN to something like what EUROPE'S ECONOMIC GROWTH RATE IS.)

And, by 2042, INTEREST ON THE HUGE NATIONAL DEBT WILL LIKELY BE A FAR LARGER EXPENSE THEN SOCIAL SECURITY AND MEDICARE/MEDICAID *COMBINED*.

So, who is 'ignoring' the real problems, and why?
