Yes, it would be nice to get sodas and other purely junk food out of school vending machines. Oregon legislators were interested in passing such a bill recently, and at the beginning passage looked probable, but then the soda and junk food manufacturers moved in with their lobbyists, and everything got much more complicated. It will be interesting to see what happens in Connecticut.

One of may favorite people, English chef Jamie Oliver, is trying to get all the junk food and mystery meat out of English school lunches. He is running quite a campaign. I am always really happy when people I enjoy in general turn out to be really good citizens. Like Bono, whose birthday is today. He's 45. My husband and I are going out for a drink to celebrate. Another Taurus!
