Speaking of rumors, last November CNBC reported that PRGS was supposed to be purchased by MSFT. The stock went bonkers for several weeks and, well, here we are more than nine months later and zippo. I think it's safe to say it aint gonna happen.

Now, if you or I plastered such rumors all over SI with the same volatile effect, I think we'd be in deep doo doo by now, don't you? But if CNBC decided to report it, they would just be seen as "simply reporting what they read".

I don't know about you, but I hate hypocrisy.

This scenario reminds me of the news organizations saying they would steer clear of accident photos showing Princess Di. But when a German newspaper published them, Dateline NBC showed the newspaper, which, of course showed the photo in vivid detail. Sleazy, very sleazy.

Tom, very cogent points. Good job.
