The filibuster forces compromise and moderation. Judges have real power over other people's lives, what's the point of putting up incompetents just because they're ideologues?

Bush has 95% getting through the Senate. That's like a record for a first term.

It shows lack of moderation, lack of respect for democracy and extremism in politics for Republicans to break the rules that have worked for the Senate in order to get Thomas or Scalia to rule as theocrats as the Supreme Supreme.

That is, after all, the true 'prize' that Rove wants.
