Oh yes, I think you were out in front and the problem is very real. I do feel confident the services will find creative solutions instead of turning to a draft, but I am concerned, as every American should be.

I went to the local American school here in Italy tonight and watched about 50 kindergarten and first graders sing God Bless America, Proud to be an American, and the Stars Spangled Banner after reciting the pledge of the allegiance (and they included God). The diversity of the kids and the pride they took in singing at the top of their longs was enough to give an old submariner tears.

I loved it, much better than watching the slickest performance on American Idol. In the long term, bringing back those kind of events to public schools will solve the willingness to serve equation. Unfortunately, the brilliant NEA PHD leaders who control our schools through the union, would never allow it and the leftists running are MSM would scream jingoism at the top of their longs until some judge on the 9th circuit court agreed with them and ended the practice.

I'll bet there is a correlation toward those kinds of events in places like Texas and recruitment trends. But what do I know; I'm only using my heuristic judgment (or common sense), which doesn’t appear all that common in many leftist quarters of America these days.
