The iPod and iTunes are so proliferate here in the military theater of operations, that the Department of Defense might as well start issuing OD Green iPods to the troops. Or in the case of Iraq and Afghanistan... sand colored iPods.

As for podcasting, we strictly forbid any kind of streaming media as our networks are taxd for bandwidth.

I have seen some military blogs where folks are podcasting narratives and recordings of their experiences here. Usually they are uploading content to a server back in the states.

I've shown a few guys how to store their data on the iPods. As an afterthought, I think this might be a mistake when is comes to managing sensitive information. The iPod can store a lot of data, pictures and video.

Bill, are they doing any podcasting there where a guy sets up a playlist and then broadcasts the music over local music systems to share the music?

Are there a lot of laptops around to hold the iTunes data files?

Good to hear from you!

Jeff
