I quit smoking on 4 January. The first week is hard. Then for couple of weeks, it is a fond memory you want to go back to, more than anything - like "A cigarette would be so good with this coffee/wine/etc". After that, you are home free...

My tips would be: Change your habits. If you go to the same little restaurant every day and have a habit of smoking a cigarette with your coffee after lunch, don't go there for a while. If you have a habit of having a morning coffee and a cigarette with it, stop the morning coffee for a while and have an orange juice instead. Don't drink alcohol for a while if you have a habit of lighting up when you have a drink in your hand.

Good luck :-)
