I'm surprised your friend Mary still yearned for a cigarette as a response to stress years after she quit. The habit disappeared much faster for me - a couple of months on and I have no interest in cigarettes now.

I do remember that smoking was very pleasurable - especially with coffee or wine on the side! If only it didn't stink so bad & didn't give you a slow & painful death. Ah well... With a little luck, science might conquer cancer in a decade or two and I might take it up again.

In the meanwhile, if you decide to quit, PM me for tips that worked for me. Good luck :-)
