How do you define long-term?

Nokia alone is going to sell 40 million MP3 enabled handsets this year. The vast majority of these are going to be flash enabled, which probably limited their impact on Apple in the past....but with flash prices falling to $50 a GB, they will likely start impacting low-end miniHD iPods by this Christmas.

The question is...how does Apple respond to the mobile phone competitors? Do they license the software and try and get operators to buy into iTunes....or do they try and maintain control and only do the types of deals that they have done with Motorola? The last option might be an Apple handset. I would love to see what Apple could come up with regards to handset design....but it is very high risk/reward. An unsuccessful handset division has killed the profits of conglomerates much larger than Apple (Siemens/Sony).
