PSS Heard there are 1m people managing money. Doesn't anyone produce anything any more? Feels like this country lives off of the handful of people that actually produce things.

I think the "manage money" approach to success was what we had in the 80s in the US. Nobody wanted to build anything, the prestige job was corporate raider or investment banker etc. who profited while the japanese ate our lunch. I always thought the 90s were so great because we *totally* got away from this line of thinking and many of the companies created were our best ever. The 90s were also good because in the 80s, you really felt that overcompensated CEOs were screwing everybody- that changed in the 90s. Now, it seems we are back to that 80s mindset again.

I always thought stock options had a lot to do with people wanting to build. And the labor shortage too.

I wish I could find that ratio of executive compensation vs. avg worker compensation. When we build, the worker compensation starts to gain on the exec compensation. Now, obviously we are going in the wrong direction *again*.
