After you download a few songs, you'll find out the cell phone company just sucked your wallet dry, not for the cost of the songs but for the cost of the download $/bit rate.

The cell phone companies will not win lasting customers if they keep charging outrageous prices for data movement. Apple doesn't have to worry about them.

There is no doubt that wireless will always have a premium to wireline downloads....simply the nature of the beast. Eventually, those prices will come down to the point where at least some people will be willing to pay the premium (maybe a nickel a MB?).

In any case, the ability to download songs isnt going to be what attracts people to handset MP3 players....it will simply be the fact that they always have it with them. Most people will put music on them by loading up their flash cards with MP3's from their computer (at least in the developed world). The new Nokia miniHD handset is 802.11g enabled so that will make it even easier. The handset solutions wont be nearly as elegant as the iPod but they dont need to be. The fact that people will have the music with them rather than at home on the iPod will make up for a lot of faults.
