You say we've hit a soft patch, but to quote a Merill Lynch analyst "it wasn't much of a soft patch". With GDP for the first quarter being revised to something like 3.7% and growth in the second quarter looking more like 4%, those are very respectable numbers.

You say, that only energy and retail sectors are doing well, check out my other post to you that outlines the earnings gains for all the other sectors in the SP500. There are many that are doing well, in fact most are doing well.

The stock market will follow eventually. The smart money is already buying as we speak.
