Of course, the hut-person was quite upset and would not allow his son to be delivered for homosexual activity. Instead, he offered them his daughter. Let's just assume that the hut-person realized that the band of men would not harm his daughter because they had no interest in women.
I think you're looking at that passage without considering the larger context. The hut-person could have followed the example of Moses. See Exodus 2:21. As a Catholic, I'm sure you'll be looking at the Douay-Rheims Bible and not those other false texts, such as the King James version. Though in this case they do make the same point.
Also, raised a Catholic, I sometimes do a quick sidestep when I make a religious point. In the hope that if lightning is on the way, I can dodge that one. So far so good.
It's been my observation, i.e., anecdotal, that by and large Catholics either stay Catholic or "suspend" their participation in the Church. They rarely convert to another denomination or religion. Whereas, Protestants will flit around from denomination to denomination. I don't know of any data that can confirm that, but it's my personal observation.
