"Because every vote should be counted. Don't you want every vote counted??"

Ok. So when they were a minority, they inserted language to allow a single senator to block a nomination, which they did over 60 times. But as soon as they gained power, suddenly that was an awful situation that needed to be corrected. Why am I dubious about this? Every vote being counted wasn't important to the Republicans when they didn't have the votes. Suddenly, now it is.

Ok, chew on this. One of the reasons for allowing filibusters is so that the minority party has some say. As a result, a smart president surveys both parties to see what is acceptable and appoints accordingly. This is important in the Senate because the senators are there on the basis of square inches, not population. So there needs to be some balance.
