The death rate on the last month+ is not sustainable for Iraq. Something must give. With luck its the insurgents.

By all accounts I have seen, the death rate in the last months is less than it was under Saddam, especially during his internal campaigns. Carbombs get headlines, but no way do they compare in numbers to the ordinary function of the mukhabarat, let alone the Anfal campaign.

Remember, they have found over 300,000 bodies in mass graves in Iraq - and those were just the irregular executions, not the routine ones.
