A local coyote hunter shot a wolf. Everybody told him it was just a big coyote so he sent a sample to the Illinois Dept. of Natural Resources for testing. Yep, it was a wolf that had come down from Wisconsin and BTW the fine for shooting a wolf in Illinois is $250k. Since the official position of the IDNR is there are no wolves in Illinois they told him to call it a coyote and they wouldn't fine him.
