You have just focussed on the "as an energized and unwelcome force in American politics." part.

That was my intent. I don't think my GOP friends here would ever go for such nonsense re. the pap vaccine. Its the minority members of that party who are making the most noise and to whom the media is reacting. And its to them I am directing my comments.

The 6 to 1 ratio of conservative vs. liberal labels has more to do with who is pushing their agenda and who is laying low. It has little to do with actual bias. The whole study is slanted to "prove" a previously arrived at conclusion. It is like with PBS. The conservatives are all in a lather over a perceived liberal bias that few other Americans perceive. In fact, over 20% of American perceive PBS as being biased towards conservatives...

Having said what I've said above, I have to add that the minority has become so vocal they are sounding more and more like the majority. So much so, that legislators who normally would be moderates are courting them. That's the danger to your argument. And I wonder if you are a little blind to it because you have lived in an environment where this minority has been playing their tug of war for some years now.

In any case, I believe they should be called out by the media for what they are, and they shouldn't be getting the attention they are getting from everyone but the reality is they are. And therein, lies the danger..........they are accumulating power that should not be their's but is. Someone like Hitler and his party were not big in Germany but they had enough clout/cleverness to end up ruling the country. That's what I am afraid of here.

Good people who don't believe in their nonsense are afraid to speak up. This minority is clever enough to tie their positions to passages within the bible. No matter how unreligious the rest of us say we are many of us have been taught the same superstitious garbage as well as the good stuff that can be found in the bible. That makes it hard to speak out against them because then you are speaking out against the bible and all that supposedly God stands for. I think that's the dilemma. And its a difficult one to overcome. In fact, I don't see how it can be overcome. Do you see what I am saying?
