There was a time that PBS was absolutely needed, even with a bias. But now we have Bravo and Discovery and any number of other outlets. If PBS and NPR shows have an audience, why can't they be supported by that audience? And if they don't have an audience, why am I forced to support unpopular shows through my taxes?

Say 25 percent of the American population is liberal. That's 70 million of the riches people on earth. And you are telling me they can't support shows they like? Public funded shows just should not discuss modern politics. And even history could cause a problem. I'm not saying there is no place for liberal opinion on TV, just that it should be self-supporting. And hopefully, labelled. I don't think that is asking too much.

I recently heard a liberal congressman defend NPR. He didn't even try to claim that it was fair or balanced. He just said that its liberal bias was needed to counteract all those EEEvil corporation sponsored shows. You know, like CNN and CBS.
