But it is a small sacrifice to right the terrible wrong of socialism. Workers were getting an undeserved benefit under the old system. And if you give them something they don't earn, they don't appreciate it properly. They should have to work for what they get. Unless, of course, they are already wealthy. To protect them, we need to repeal inheritance taxes and taxes on investments because they are the people who have made this country great...

As you note, a college degree isn't a ticket to the middle class anymore. Even a degree in a field that in general leads to well paying jobs. I know many a CS grad who specialized in IT or web-based stuff that can't find a job in their field.
