"If the opposition wanted a solution, we could get one quickly. It appears Democrats want to regain control before offering a different version. We suspect that President Bush's revised solution for Social Security would only extend solvency. Are we to believe that the yet unnamed, undescribed Democrat plan would do better?"

[I also think that the public should not be under-estimated so. If spoken to directly, and truthfully, without tricks and deception... the public would be far more likely to support change.]

'It is easier to explain it when the opposing party is not spreading FUD."

Some members of political parties (both in power, and out of power) will ALWAYS be demagoging or engaging in FUD....

FUD is not limited to politicians. It is used in business too. Sales people are notorious for using it to close a sale.

Like I was pointing out: don't underestimate the American public.

They can cut through a LOT of FUD, and see through to the heart of the matter.

They deserve to be trusted with the plain truth... not 'spin', FUD, or deliberate deception and shell games.

Let us deal with the problem of Social Security now. After we have a solution that pushes back insolvency for a couple more decades, then let us address Medicare. Medicare has been balanced for a long time by paying doctors next to nothing. They deserve a fair system too.
