Brinker to us Earthlings: Small caps, small caps, small caps.

As the headline indicates, Brinker focused much attention Saturday
on the ascendancy of the small caps as overvaluitis infects
the big caps, "the Coca-Colas and Proctor and Gambles of this
world," as Brinker put it. This now evident trend in the small
and mid-caps has long been predicted by Brinker.

Brinker also reminded his listeners of his recent divination
that 7500 dollars on the DJIA would not be breached during
the latest downdraft. Indeed, the DJIA did not close below
7600 before resuming its rise.

One footnote perhaps worthy of note: Brinker seemed to amend
his prior prognostication of "new highs in the DJIA by year
end" on the Saturday broadcast. To recall it, Brinker now calls
for new highs in the DJIA "during the winter." If winter begins
on 22 December 1997, this allows only 3 1/2 trading days until
the advent of 1998, by my reckoning. Suffice it to say, it could
be argued that Brinker is expecting that new DJIA highs will
materialize in 1998, instead of 1997.
