Positive Barron's Article

Full page report about Cubic Corp. on page 26 (9/8/97)

Smoothing The Ride - (CUB) "...has been plagued by inconsistent earnings over the years .... But that's about to change. Jazzing up the E-mail."

Points
-Expect larger and more consistent earnings from their defense industry and public transit system segments.
-Earnings from continuing operations (which I assume means just the defense and transit segments) Should $1.30-1.35 FY97(Sept) doubling in 2-3 years.
-CVideo-Mail is the kicker, but Barron's has no forecast of its contribution to earnings.
-There is a discussion of the potential for new defense and transit products.
-Insider buying. The head of CUB's defense operation has been buying CUB shares unrelated to his stock options.

---------
Those interested in CUB should also note Value Line's report (July 25,1997 page 1029)
-Stock buyback of 500,000 shares of 8.900,000 outstanding.
-2000-02 earnings of $3.00
-2000-02 price goal of 30-45
This apparently with little consideration to CVideo-Mail.

----------
CVideo-Mail

Barron's said that the company expects "to price CVideo-Mail packages under $200, and has set a sales goal of two million packages in two years." This is $400 million in two years or an average of 200 million/year. I assume that the <$200 price is retail not CUB's revenue.

Question:
Does anyone have a ballpark figure for the revenue to CUB and a reasonable net profit margin range? (with only 8.4 million shares outstanding the per share figures could be quite significant)

A long-time holder.
