Brian I'm not pointing at Lizzie but you hit the nail on the head regarding Liberalism. They truly believe they are on a higher plain. Being enlightened they are better suited to direct the course of social evolution. They will respect the democratic process as long as liberal policy is maintained. If it should divert then they are all for stepping in and overruling the will of the people. It's for your own good and they know better than you, after all they're enlightened and you aren't, otherwise you'd be liberal and they wouldn't need to act on your behalf!
