Zarqawi may be a fabrication. He was clearly reported to have had one leg blown off in Afghanistan, then to have gone to Baghdad for medical treatment. Cheney and his boys used this as one of the top reasons for invading Iraq. It was their "proof" Saddam was in league with Al Qaida, even though one is secular and the other fundamentalist.

So now, Bushies tell us Zarqawi raced away from our soldiers on foot leaping from a speeding car, then vanished leaving behind his laptop.

So clearly, we know one of the two stories is lie. Which one?

Zarqawi either has one leg and was hospitalized in Baghdad, now either dead or convalescing somewhere, or he has two legs and is chopping off heads, racing around like Air Jordan and leading the resistance. Take your pick. But one of the two stories is BS. And I don't know which is more troubling.

One thing we know. Bushies haven't mentioned Osama Bin Lauden in years, and since Saddam is in prison, they needed a new boogey-man for their scape-goating scare tactics. Forget Osama and Saudis who were behind 9-11. The new boogey-man is Zarqawi.

But according to some sources in Iraq, he was never in Baghdad and is probably long dead. Or was he and is he?
