"In fact as far as I can tell the "PBS is a heavily biased to the conservative side" is an idea that has insignificant support. "

According to CPB, approximately 12% of Americans feels it leans conservative. Approximately 22% feel it leans liberal. While the number who feel it leans liberal are about twice the ones who feel it leans conservative, those numbers are still dwarfed by those who don't perceive a bias or were unsure. The Moyers show is the one that draws the most heat. To counterbalance it, PBS started two that lean conservative, Tucker Carlson and the WDJ one.

In one poll, 80% of the people polled felt that the news and information on PBS was fair and balanced, only 12% felt the opposite, 8% weren't sure. I can guarantee you that a similar poll would show much worse numbers for, say, Fox News.
