MW, Perhaps the burning of the American flag should not be a capital offense, but it surely should be an offense that is punished by law. Some of those that tend to burn the flag, claim that it is just a symbol, but it is more. After all, the Pledge of Allegiance is a pledge to the flag itself, as representing the USA, "I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America". That flag represents all that is uniquely American, and should be honored. Many a young American has died protecting what the flag represents.
