I think recycling has become pretty mandatory here, since there are regulations form the state mandating reductions in garbage. Running out of space, ya know.
One thing which bugs me is that some are trying to build Community, instead of building the community. But even that is lBS. Fer instance, one told me last night that "We want to build Community". OK, Susan, then why are you and John setting up to go off-grid, instead of an intertie to add your electricity to the community? Doi.
This thing has been studied to death for at least 30 years. Bucky Fuller's World Game, Mother Earth News Eco Village, permaculture villages, etc. So, we know we are going to need energy. What are we doing about it? Saying we need energy. We have already shown we don't need meetings to get the ball rolling. The Health Center is working on it, the HS principal is working on it (altho the superintendent doesn't want to spend the money). (Now that could be fun; Baby Girl is student body prez; I could see if I could radicalize her enuf to radicalize the kids enuf to lean on the supe. Our kids have done that stuff B4.) Nobody set up committees to get there. People who were ready went to the boards and said "Why don't you...?", so they did. Seems simple to me. Don't tell me I need renewables; fix up a way so I can do it more cost effectively; show me a group rate, not a road warrior movie.
