Actually from what I know of the nomination meeting last night, I think more and more small c conservatives will be left with no where to go.
Instead of making Stronach's move look like something to be seriously looked at Harper made it look like unbridled opportunism. So with Belinda gone and two Newfoundland votes gone, Harper is left swinging in the breeze. If he had not been so eager and simply been outraged with every detail of the Gomery, and hammered home just how toothless Gomery is, he might now be at the top of the poles. Instead of that, he is waging a religious war against Homosexuals, and losing the election again. If homosexuals or those with some inclination in that direction form 10% of the population and they have only 2 relations, that is 30 percent of the votes in the country. So Harper is hoping to get 50% of the votes in Canada from 70% of the country he is not alienating. Martin is trying to get 50% of the votes knowing that the same 30% of Canadians cannot vote for the Conservatives. And Martin has the right to walk around handing out money like it is going out of style. As a conservative, Harper appears to me to be better suited to slopping hogs than running a government.... The days of the Moral Majority imposing their arcane religious fetishes on the population are gone. Time Harper realised it and tried to act like he has a brain. The conservatives might look like a winner if they had elected almost anyone else to be leader.
