Yes, I too thought that was an interesting response on her part, filled with numerous points, both journalistic and ethical.

About this point you raised:
" whether the press should suppress news because it is not favorable to the American war machine."

I think there's a corollary, one which is more interesting to me, and that is whether the press should suppress news if they have good reason to believe it will be incendiary (in this case cause rioting)and even provoke killing.
