Isikoff has singlehandedly turned US triumph in the country to a total disaster.? Cool, what a guy. The conventional reality take on that would be that the US "triumph" in Afghanistan was always a trifle incomplete, as most reports have always indicated that outside of Kabul the country was left to the warlords. W had other, bigger wars to move on to , it seemed, and more important countries to make a total mess of, in his inimitable never-mistaken war president fashion. I'm sure that's inconsistent with official, obligatory W faithful gloating triumphalism, but that's sort of a general problem with conventional reality.
