Barry - Re: "Intel's IPO"
Since Intel went public, I calculate that one share at the IPO is now equivalent to 303.75 shares.
Working backwards, this would imply about 6,000,0000 outstanding shares at the IPO (not OFFERED shares), neglecting all the share repurchases that Intel did. I would guess this implies about 10,000,000 REAL shares existed at that time and I would guess that the original IPO "offered" 2,000,000 shares for sale.
I'm a little fuzzy on the lead underwriter, but I tend to think it was L.F. Rothschild , Unterberg & Towbin.
The first stock split occurred in April, 1973 (3 for 2) and a second one took place in April, 1974 (3 for 2).
In January, 1974, Intel was trading fr $80/share and in December 1974 it was trading for $15.50/share - due to the OilEmbargo and severe economic recession that resulted.
