It not just the lack of jungle. There is no equivalent army to hide under any jungle should it exist. The closest equivalent would have been Saddam's army but it doesn't exist any more. Read up on Khe Sanh what force in Iraq can even dream about attempting such an operation against American forces. Even something like the fight the Vietnamese communists gave us at Ia Drang is completely beyond the insurgents capabilities. Something like the Eastertide Offensive was probably even beyond Saddam's army's capabilities when he was in charge of a large intact army.

Iraq is slowly becoming a war of attrition, and there is NO WAY to win such a war in a country whose hearts and minds are key to today's mission. You should really avoid such topics...
