There is no equivalent army to hide under any jungle should it exist.

If you think back to when Vietnam was French Indochina there was no NVA to hide in the jungle either. That was when the insurgency began. The U.S. phase came after the French had lost half the country. Check back in a few years when Iraq has split up into multiple political regions and anti-western forces have taken over one or more regions with a little help from Sunni Syria or Shia Iran.

This Vietnam has only just begun.
