DMA, If we allow the burning of the flag, but offer immunity to anyone that beats up the burner, that is asking for anarchy in the streets.

To muslims, the Koran is a sacred symbol, and when Newsweek pulled thier little fiasco, the riots broke out among muslims. The American flag is also a sacred symbol and should have the same protections, and rights, as any other item that pertains to the hearts of those that believe in it.

If I were young again, in the shape I once was, and saw someone burning the American flag, I would beat the crap out of him, and according to your plan, would get off Scot free. That doesn't make any sense to me. That forgives the braking of one law that could have been avoided if the burning of the flag was against the law, which IMO, should be.

There is blood on that flag, shed by the many people that died, or were wounded, protecting it, and building this nation up to be the strongest one in the world. It deserves respect, and protection.
