John, Michael Murphy, my favorite tech pimp <VBG>, said that Rockwell may buy out Cirrus at what he calls dirt cheap prices. I find this extremely funny. Not that it won't happen. But because of my history with Murph and a contest I am having with him on Prodigy. We both have a list of 13 stocks and I was routinely kicking his fanny until Rockwell bought out Brooktree, one of his picks, at a stupid price. Proving they are not a bunch of rocket scientists. Well, they actually are a bunch of rocket scientists, so I guess it proves that rocket scientists are smart but cannot recognize fluff when they see it. At least not the ones at Rockwell. So, old Murph took the lead temporarily, but my great picks and his turkeys finally turned the tide in my favor again. Now, he is calling for Rockwell to bail him out again, this time on Cirrus, which has been in the toilet since he recommended it. The stock zoomed on this shameless tout of a stock he owns in his funds. But Cirrus is in trouble and could go bankrupt without somebody with deep pockets taking them over. Rockwell has deep pockets. But, if they do buy this troubled company, I have a feeling it will be a takeunder from current prices. At least I hope so. I can't compete against a former defense company with a lot of cash and the common sense of a drunken sailor buying crapola at the top. -G- MU. When a recommendation issues forth from Merrill, especially when it is for one of the most active and best known stocks in the world, those thousands of brokers, many of whom have discretion, buy it for their customers. They'll be sorry. But, then, their main concern is YTB, Yield To Broker, and a commish is a commish. Then, once it starts heading up, the brain dead momentum people buy it. Then some short sellers quit, as they should with a 50 percent loss in a week or so. And, yes, the suckers always have money. Just because they are not bright as investors does not mean they are not sharp productive members of society in other fields who take home paychecks. However, I wonder about Martians now. I think it was an earlier semi cycle that made intelligent life disappear on that planet. -G- MB
