your higher prices are the metro effect in your area, I would suppose, because I have traveled a hundreds of RURAL miles in PA recently and was surprised at the consistency of the gas prices even in remote coal region hamlets.

BTW, read on an auto enthusiast thread that keeping RPM's under 2.3K with a big gas engine makes 10% or so improvement to mileage. Tried it for a tank, which required tying a large Hydrogen balloon to my lead right foot to keep the motor under 2300 RPM's, gggg, but it does indeed deliver 10% better mileage (perhaps totally unsurprising considering my normal "I Am A Rocketship" driving).

The surprising part was how quickly the torque of Toyota's 32V V8 gets the SUV moving even at low RPM's (I believe my torque peak is around 2200). So even at < 2300 RPM's, no one can accuse me of joining the Gray Panther Left Lane Nemesis of Lead Foot's Driving Club.
