I love the Constellation of ORION!

of course as you must already know the constellation of orion is made up of seven stars.

Interesting that you quoted AMOS--which is somewhat obscure. Religious, are you?

yes, i am a catechumen in the orthodox church.

Seven has always been a very popular number.

yes, going back for thousands of years. it's no coincidence--it comes from the bible. seven is the most frequent number found in the bible (over seven hundred times), with the exception of the number one--for God is one.

Just ask Snow White...

yes, you see this quite often in secular society. for instance the 777 that slot-machiners seek, as opposed to say, 666.

the seventh planet from the sun is uranus. we take that from the greek word ouranos, which not coincidentally means "heaven". not unlike the term you've heard "seventh heaven". of course in the bible, enoch, the seventh from adam we are told was "translated" into heaven.

there are many other instances of seven that God ordained from the foundation of the world to declare himself to man. there are so many that it would be tedious to cover them all, but i will offer you a few easily recognized ones.

--there are seven colors in a rainbow - ROYGBIV
--there are seven notes in a musical scale. Do, Re, Mi, Fa, So, La Ti, Do (as with the rainbow the eighth is merely a repetition of the first)
--there are seven continents
--seven orifices to your face (two eyes, two ears, two nostrils, one mouth)

one of the more intriguing ones is the seven day week. of course we read about that in the creation account at the beginning of genesis.

what is interesting to note is that there appears to be no scientific relevance to the seven day week. for instance, we know that one complete revolution of the earth on its axis accounts for a 24 hour day. we know that when the earth completes one circuit around the sun it comprises a solar year.
our months are reckoned according to lunar cycles.

as far as i am aware (i don't follow the sciences all that closely), there is no astronomic significance to the seven day week. i am not aware of anything significant happening in the cosmos by which we reckon a seven-day week. it has simply been passed down to us by God, and perhaps He is trying to tell us something by this.

if you open a bible to Luke chapter three, where the genealogy of Christ is given going all the way back to Adam and then God, you will see that according to the flesh Jesus is counted the 77th generation from God.

as with everything in the bible, not a coincidence.
