"In this Republic, I would rather have an aggressive press that pushes the borders than a press that is afraid to upset the establishment"

The press has mostly been afraid to upset the establishment. The only time they aren't is after most of the rest of the country is already rolling on an issue. The present administration has been playing it good and paranoid, anytime there is even the slightest sign that they are slipping on an issue, they start hammering away at the press to keep them away from being critical. So the issue starts to lose traction because of the silence from the press, figuring it must not really be an issue. The thing that amazes me is the administration and its supporters pretend that the press is hounding them because(all I can think of) is the press isn't singing their praises 24/7. Just ignoring their failings isn't enough, they should actually be copying their talking points regardless of the facts.
