I looked at the CBO's projections on how Social Security is going to be solvent past 2042, and I like you hope they (the CBO) are correct! Because for them to be correct: 1. The economic growth this decade (in the United States) will greater than it was in the 90's (also meaning no recession for the rest of the decade). 2. The unemployment rate is not going to go up (for at least the next 35+ years). 3. The rate of inflation will stay less than 3% (for at least the next 35 years). 4. The real rate of return on Federal Bonds (after inflation) will be greater than 3% (for at at least the next 35 years).
