Ramsey, <<The question is would J6Ps wake up one morning, found out they have been screwed, roll over and die, or would that good old Yankee ingenuity be revived to start a new round of innovations?>>

I fear perhaps not this time around, because ...

(a) The leaders, doing the foolish such as SarOx thing, getting involved in forever wars, engaging in protectionism, and most outrageous of all, naming Alan Greensputin as a national treasure, is basically acting within the constraints of their knowledge/education/training/experience, which are very limited indeed, and same for the body corporate and intellectual institutions (that produced the likes of Bernanke and such mental flotsam), all supported by ‘majority rule’ electorates. The minority, meaning the smart intelligent and aware electorates are simply not bothering, content to watch, or are making contingency moves, with their smarts and capital;

(b) Smarts all over the world, but perhaps mostly in Asia, are being institutionally freed to act for the first in 300 hundred + years, creating a new class of hungry and ruthless elites able to go for 100 years of scheming and grabbing.

... and so the Fall of Rome will likely play out to the inescapably inevitable end.

To get a gist of events, perhaps watching Star Wars will do.

The 300-years accident in Asia may have come to an end, and the 200-years of good fortune in the US might be running out of gas. This big move may be the true global rebalancing.

It may be all a question of cycles, and perhaps an issue of waves.

The new wave will push out the previous wave. Else history will truly have ended, like the academic who wrote the book claimed, perhaps foolishly, constrained by his mental schema and disadvantaged by his lack of astute imagination.

<<good old Yankee ingenuity>> is doing fine, in Asia, working diligently and saving much, creating, transforming, and basically having a good time.

Chugs, J
